Dessert reception at UB's library school

I just heard from Lisa Forrest and here's what she had to say about December 8's dessert reception/recruitment efforts at UB's library school:

"Hi all! We just wanted to give you an update of the dessert/tea that we hosted on December 8 at UB. Our table looked beautiful-a smorgasbord of delicious desserts and SUNYLA information! Unfortunately, attendance left a bit to be desired . . . we had about 9 students show up (yes, Dawn & I were a bit full of cookies at the end of the day!). However, the day was not a total wash! One student seemed very interested in presenting a poster . . . and the rest politely listened to our enthusiastic promotion of the conference. Also, we had a good opportunity to speak face to face with the chair of the department, and a couple of faculty members - who seemed eager to distribute the information on the conference, poster sessions, and scholarships. We will continue our promotion through the listserv and distribution of paper flyers . . . and a trip to Syracuse is still being considered! Thanks again for all of your support! Cookies, anyone? Lisa & Dawn"

Lisa and Dawn -- kudos! What a great idea. I really wish something like this had been presented when I was a student -- perhaps now this will become a traditional SUNYLA promotional event, hmmmm?
